Plumbing Tip #47: How to effectively clean the toilet

You should use a strong cleaning product for your daily toilet maintenance and also a disinfectant. To achieve maximum results, you should leave the disinfectant in place for about 15 minutes. At times, lime stains, rust or other stubborn deposits may form in the toilet bowl and your regular daily cleaner may not remove these. You could either use a powdered cleaner and scrub pad or if the stain is persistent, use an acid cleaner. However, remember to use gloves and make sure the acid does not splash. Flush the toilet twice to remove any excess cleaner when you are done.
