Plumbing Tip #19: Taking care of your kitchen sink

Kitchen sinks come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. They range from the conventional stainless steel types to those made from solid materials for added durability. For prolonged use and a clean appearance, clean the sink immediately after use, using a non-abrasive cleaner. If you use abrasive cleaners, you will eventually wear down the finishing. Also try not to let juices, gravies or cleaning acids stain the sink. Tea and coffee leaves will also stain the sink if left for too long, while acidic solutions should never be poured down the kitchen sink. If you are cleaning your sink, use hot water and soap. Cleaning solutions may also be used, as long as it is non-abrasive.
