Plumbing Tip #40: How to remove an old sink and fit in a new one?

Firstly, you have to switch off the taps and drain any excess water before disconnecting the water trap. You then have to undo the supply line connections at the base of the tap or cut the pipe with a small saw. The next step is to undo the sink fixings and remove from them from the worktop or cupboard. To connect the new sink, place it in position and mark the new fixing points. Extend the supply pipes to the marks. Make sure the final connections will enable you to squeeze your hand up behind the sink and fiddle with awkward connections. Then you have to assemble the taps on the sink and be sure to fit the washers. Next, insert the waste outlets into the sink and fix them in place. After that, you should place the sink in position and fix it using the appropriate brackets and screws. Then, connect the pipes to the tails and finally assemble the waste trap and connect to the waste pipe.
