Plumbing Tip #26: How do I fix a stiff faucet handle?

The best advice would be to try and clean the handle instead of resorting to purchasing a new one. Try removing the handle from the faucet fixtures by using a screwdriver or wrench to pry open the little cap on the center of the handle. Once you remove the screw inside, the handle should come off. Try soaking it in hot water and use some solution to clean it. Then, lubricate the internal parts of the faucet and put everything back together. If this does not work, then you would probably have to purchase new ones. Take the original handle along to ensure you do not get the wrong ones.
