Plumbing Tip #24: How do you fix a faucet that drips from the spout?
If your faucet is dripping from the spout, you may have to replace one of the washers. This takes five simple steps.

1. Firstly, turn off the water at the stop valve that is normally below the fixture.

2. Then, pry off the cap on top of the faucet with a screwdriver or a flat instrument.

3. Remove the screw under the cap. You can also use a knife to open the cap. Under the handle, there will be a nut that holds the faucet in place and unscrewing it will release the stem and allow you to pull it out. You may have to use a wrench to do this. You will then find a washer under the stem, depending on the kind of faucet you are using.

4. If the fixtures are not common, detach it and take it to a hardware shop for advice.

5. To reassemble, just repeat the entire process from reverse order.
