For a start, try running a snake down the drain to loosen up any hair, grease of other dirt that may be stuck on the walls. Then flush it out with boiling water. For double effect, use some overnight drain cleaner and again flush with boiling water the next morning. To ensure the drain remains sweet smelling, use the drain cleaner once a week. Don’t use any other kind of chemical cleaners as this could damage the pipes and may also produce dangerous gases. If you have an open drain, cleaning it regularly with a brush will prevent sludge from building up.
